Gibson is not known for the quality of their nylon strung guitars. That setup looks like it offers the worst of both worlds. |

So there is no real metal fret from what I see. It looks like it is all carved in bone. Could this be a replacement done by a luthier? |

it is very ungainly looking. the only "advantage" i can guess about is that the break angle is distributed over a larger radius, thus the strings might be less likely to break or bind at the nut? |

I've seen photos of similiar arrangements, usually associated with a compensated nut. It's a little easier to get the top of a rail down to exact height than it is to get the bottom of a slot perfect. I don't see any reason for it on a nylon string guitar. |

I've never seen that on any Gibson guitar, but Classics are thin on the ground. Sure doesn't look like Gibson work. |
